Deharadun| “The will to win is important but it isn’t worth a nickel unless you also have the will to prepare”
So, goes the adage that appropriately potrays the Annual Sports Meet of Manava Bharati India International School, held on 15 December, 2017. This day provides an insight into the zealous endeavour, dedication and the true sportsman spirit of the school.
On the day, the atmosphere of the school took a festive look. A great interest was observed among the students, staff and guardians. It was an event which will be known for its meticulous planning and discipline under the supervision of the Principal, Mrs Nina Pant. Mrs.Hansa Manral was the Chief Guest, she is the recipient of the Dronacharya Award from the President of India for coaching sports persons in the highest level of performance in weightlifting in 2001.
The Chief Guest released the balloon signalling the start of the sports meet. The Sports day began with a Sanskrit Shlok by Dr. Anant Mani Trivedi. It was followed by March Past. All the four Houses marched with their waving flag ahead. The Takshashila, Panchashila, Nalanda and Vikramashila contingents made a pretty picture. Later a melodious song was sung by the school choir. The song was followed by the scintillating flower drill by pre-primary students and the colourful dance by toddlers of nursery and K.G classes.
The next on the list was dance performance by the senior girls on the song ’Aa yo re aa yo re’. Tae-Kwando, pomp-pomp drill and yoga were the next in the series. The next events were the innovative Dumbbell Drill and aerobics by middle school girls.
After this the various races lined up for the day quickly progressed. The cheering squads of all the classes motivated their favourites as if each wanted to prove that “Winning isn’t only one thing!”. These events were followed by the much awaited Prize-Distribution Ceremony, were the medals and certificates were distributed to the winners of the field events.Takshashila house stood on the first rank in sports and bagged the trophy. After the sports the Director of Manava Bharati India International School, Dr. Himanshu Shekhar inspired the students in his speech. In his address the Chief Guest Mrs. Hansa Manral remarked on the perfection and precision of the performances and the participants. He praised the school for its discipline and congratulated all the winners. The event was concluded by the “Vote of thanks”, given by Vice-Principal of the school, Mr. Ajay Gupta.Present on the occasion were Mr. P.K. Dhyani, Mrs. Jeniffer, Mr. Anil Kandwal, Ms. Lata Thapliyal and the staff of Manava Bharati School.
