The birthday of Mahatma Gandhi is celebrated in India every year by Gandhi Jayanti and it falls yearly on 2nd of October. This year will mark the beginning of the 150th year of Gandhi’s birth, and the government and the nation plans to realize his dream of a clean India. For Gandhi the drive for cleanliness in society was an integral part of the process in bringing about a casteless and free society.


“Everyone is his own scavenger” said Gandhi reiterating the fact that the need for making cleanliness a personal responsibility. Following his footsteps, the Government of India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ with a vision of achieving ‘Clean India’ by 2019. The students and staff of Manava Bharati School celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in the School with great fevour  and joy. A special assembly marked the beginning of this day where the students were informed about the life and values of Mahatma Gandhi. The School choir then presented the song “Vaishnav Jan”


A play titled ‘Mahatma Gandhi ki satya, ahimsa tatha swatcha’ which presented an insight on the Gandhian philosophy was presented by middle school students. Then everyone took the national pledge.

The students of the school as a part of ‘Swachh Bharat -Swachh Vidyalaya’ campaign realized the goal of clean India by cleaning the school campus and nearby areas. The Director of the school Dr. Himanshu Shekhar and Principal Ms. Nina Pant congratulated the staff and students for their participation in making India a clean country.
